Shilin is the settlement of Sani people of Yi ethnic group. Sani people are unrestrained and frank, they eat meat in big pieces and drink in large bowls. Every June 24th of the lunar calendar, the annual Torch Festival is held in scenic areas like Shilin, Long Lake, or Naigu Stone Forest. Visiting Shilin at this time, you can enjoy wonderful bullfighting and wrestling match, and then have a hot pot of lamb, dog flesh, or donkey meat with ethnical characteristics in the woods not far away.
